Harvest of Hope at Home 2.0

October 3, 2021

Free

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Mercer New Jersey is pleased to welcome Zak Williams as the keynote speaker at its 13th annual Harvest of Hope Wellness Conference, which begins on October 3, 2021. Presented online throughout October, the conference, which is offered at no cost to the public, provides an educational, inspirational, and communal experience for individuals, families, and friends affected by mental illness.

In his presentation––My Story: From Pain to Purpose––Zak will honor the memory of his father, beloved actor Robin Williams, by sharing his own journey of recovery from addiction and mental illness. Zak has become a passionate global mental health advocate, professional speaker, and supporter of initiatives and campaigns that seek to remove the stigma and address the challenges associated with mental health issues.

Zak’s appearance is made possible with generous support from Mercer County. The conference also is funded in part by Roma Bank, Hampton Behavioral Health Center, Penn Medicine, and the Lawrence Township Community Foundation.

The conference continues with eight online workshops and one in-person workshop that will be presented during October. These workshops cover a wide range of mental health subjects, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, qi gong (an Eastern mind-body-spirit practice), Zentangle (a form of art therapy), resilience-building, post-traumatic stress disorder, paths to happiness, supportive housing, and mindful self-compassion. Dr. Mark Komrad will return for the 9th consecutive year to lead an “Ask the Doctor” session.

NAMI Mercer has been hosting Harvest of Hope during National Mental Illness Awareness Week since 2009. Prior to the COVID pandemic, the conference was held in person at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville. In 2020, NAMI Mercer introduced Harvest of Hope at Home with Mariel Hemingway as the keynote presenter.

Although there is no fee to attend, registration is required. The conference brochure and online registration form are available on the NAMI Mercer website at https://namimercer.org/learn-more/harvest-of-hope-wellness-conference/. If you have questions, please email home@namimercer.org or call 609-799-8994.
