As the world struggled with the challenges of COVID-19, uRise was born. In 2021, we started as a beacon of hope and connection. It was developed initially as an online community platform, with the support of PenFed, providing a vital link for residents to stay engaged and supported during periods of isolation. Its digital roots allowed people to connect, learn, and grow from the safety of their homes, making it a crucial resource during the pandemic.
As COVID-19 restrictions ended, we opened the uRise Campus to expand from online to live, introducing dynamic programs such as art classes for children and workshops on homeownership that equipped community members with essential knowledge.
We also transitioned English Language Learner (ELL), our most popular program, from online to live. It has rapidly expanded, helping hundreds of people overcome a challenging language barrier so that they now feel more comfortable speaking English while also giving them a broader sense of belonging and connection.
By 2023, uRise had successfully transitioned from its digital roots to a robust hybrid model that caters to both online and in-person community needs. The digital platform maintains a solid user base, with significant activity on educational and resource pages, including the highly frequented ELL and Event Calendar pages. In 2024, we’ve continued shifting toward live programs to foster in-person engagement with diverse offerings, and our uRise website is updated to reflect our evolution – from engaging art and dance classes for children to impactful ELL programs and so much more.
